Mr. Handrick's 90th Bday Party, Mother's Day, and other Mischief

We spent this past weekend in upstate NY with Erik's mom. Irene was kind enough to babysit Thomas on Friday nite and Saturday day so that we could go to Belhurst Castle in Geneva NY to use our gift certifcate from Uncle Bruce, Aune Joyce, and Andy. We had a lovely time there and although we dont have any photos of the views of the Finger Lakes, we will definitely be going back! Thomas behaved himself for Irene and actually slept longer than he has ever slept before!! It seems he just likes being away from Arlington! On Saturday, we all went to Mr. Handrick's Surprise 90th Birthday party at his great-nephew's house. Thomas got to chill out with Don and his family and he was very very good for us. By that evening, we were all pooped out and were in bed by 11pm. We celebrated Mother's Day with Irene at Becky's Diner, where we ran into Uncle Dick and Aunt Theresa and the whole Koons gang. That was great fun and again Thomas was very very good. We also met some of Irene's friends and the Watsons. On our way out of town, we stopped at Mr. Handrick's for a quick chat and we also stopped at Uncle Dick's house just in time to see them planting beautiful plants for Aunt Theresa. Then we began our long trek bk to the nations capitol. Upon our arrival 6hours later at home, our power went out and stayed out for the next 24 hours. Due to the rain and winds, a tree fell on the power lines at the end of our block and knocked off all of the electricity in the houses in our complex. Luckily we had some Mangialardos garlic pizza with us to keep us going!!!

Our First Anniversary

As this was our first anniversary, Erik and Sheila gave each other PAPER gifts. Erik's present was tix to Yankees at Yankee Stadium (last season there) and a JOhnny Cash framed photograph. Sheila's present was a beautiful handmade certificate to the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia and a gift cert to Elzabeth Arden's Red Door Spa. Fran and Joan were here to babysit for us on the Saturday nite before our anniv (it fell on Monday this year). We went to La Ferme for dinner that nite. Then we headed off for West Virginia on Tuesday am (Shane took the dogs as we stopped in Front Royal along our way) to stay at the resort. Here are some photos

Fran Arrives!

So Thomas has been waiting patiently for Fran to arrive to show her his beautiful nursery and just how cute a little boy he is. And now that she is here he is not letting her go!! As of today, Thurs April 24, Thomas weighs 15lbs. NO JOKE. Here are some photos of Thomas from the last few days enjoying Fran's company. The last two photos are from Thomas's first steak at Rays the Steaks in Arlington. He likes his steak rare like his Daddy.

Two Months!

Thomas weighed a swashbuckling 14.2lbs at his 2mo visit to the pediatrician!! He now measures 24 3/8inches. His eyes are still bright blue and his flowing locks are growing even longer! Wow is he a handsome boy!

Unfortunately, Thomas got 5 vaccinations at this check-up too so he was pretty sore, fussy, and actually sick for a few days afterwards (check out his poor little legs in the photo). Grandma came to visit for a week after her trip to Mississippi which was great!

Thomas has started sleeping longer stretches at night which is great for Mommy and Daddy! He is now taking 6oz bottles. He discovered his hands last week and is trying to figure out what his feet are this week. He is cooing and gurgling like crazy and will coo back and laugh at Mommy in the mornings. He is still kicking away at the air and shoving his fists in mouth. He is almost able to hold his own bottle!

Mommy's Prediction: Rolling within the next two weeks.

Miami Trip

Erik took Sheila and Thomas to Miami for his partnership retreat. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in South Beach which was a beautiful hotel right on the beach. It was our first airplane ride with Tommy so we were nervous but everything worked out ok!

Easter and Nanny to the Rescue

Sheila's mom came down for her Easter break to help us with Thomas. We caught up on our sleep and now we are crying every day because she went home. Nanny Jojo was happy as larry with her 2 grandchildren! Here are some photos from her trip and some more Easter photos.
